Easigrass Supports Team RX Racing at Autosport International show
Team RX Racing joined forces with the MSA British Rallycross Championship to promote rallycross in the UK at the Autosport International show last weekend (14 – 17 January).
Held over four days at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham, the Team RX Racing stand included the 600bhp Ford Focus Supercar that motorcycle star Guy Martin will race at a British Rallycross Championship event this season, alongside an RX150 buggy, two Julian Godfrey Engineering Supercar engines and an SGS Racing Transmissions gearbox.
Many drivers and officials from the MSA British Rallycross Championship spent time on the stand and helped promote the British Championship. Team RX Racing owner and driver Ollie O’Donovan was pleased with the reception from fans along with existing and potential competitors at the show. He feels the presence was of benefit to the sport across the board. “The stand was a huge success for rallycross. Guy Martin was certainly an attraction. He has a big fan base and I would say quite a big percentage of the footfall over the weekend was due to his name being on the side of the Focus Supercar. If things like that help to drive interest in the sport then that’s fantastic,” said the former MSA British Rallycross Champion and current FIA European Rallycross Championship competitor.
A number of new drivers showed their intent to race the single-make RX150 buggies in the UK this season. “A lot of people collected information and we’ve had a couple of new drivers sign up to RX150s for this year, subject to them securing commitment from their regular sponsors. We also have a few exciting names that we hope to add to the already impressive list of those who have driven an RX150 buggy before. That’s a big positive. Overall, I think this was a good weekend for rallycross, and a really strong start to the year. Hopefully we can carry that momentum to the first round at Croft now. The sport is on the up, and we all need to keep working together to make it even better.”
